About the Juror
Professor Burnham attended the Boston Museum of Fine Arts and the Wentworth Institute before receiving a Master of Fine Arts degree from Yale University in 1961. From 1962 to 1983, he taught at Northwestern University and is presently Professor of Art History at the University of Maryland, College Park. He is a past recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship and the Critic's Award from the Chicago Art Awards. His writings appear in numerous national art publications including Art in America, The New Art Examiner, Artscene, Arts Magazine, and the Journal of Art Education. The author of three books, Structure in Art, Beyond Modern Sculpture, and The Great Saltworks, Professor Burnham is currently working on a multi-volume book concerned with the narrative and art semiotics in painting since Giotto.
